Promoting your Tournament with RHI Golf

June 15, 2017 by Joy Ball

Is your golf tournament filled with excited players?

PROMOTE*PROMOTE*PROMOTE

Promote the prizes that you’re giving out, and you may see a significant increase of player registration. Our sales team usually sends you photos of your awards before they ship in our photo booth to get you excited. Why not share that excitement with everyone else? Maybe post it on your twitter/instagram/Facebook pages. Sometimes  you’ll get tagged by us on Twitter when we ship your awards because we want to share the excitement about the trophies that you helped design. We want to show them off! You should too.

MORE PROMOTION: One of the many reasons to order your awards for an in-hand date a month before your event, is that you can then display your carefully thought out prizes in the golf shop to get members buzzing about your event.

Horse race events are perfect for our custom horseshoe awards. Martis Camp did these for their event, and they turned out great. We engraved their logo so that we could show off the detail on their club logo. One horseshoe has their tourney logo, and the other their club logo (2 different events).

Squire Creek did great and contacted us early January with a list of events with themes that they wanted us to design for. The Peach Invitational trophies are one of the several that we’ve created. For each event we kept their base consistent with color and logo placement.

Skagit G&CC have a few different designs for their winners which gives variety to their prize table. They also sometimes  give out a member award. This year they have a member that they honoring who loves the casino, so we designed a ‘winnings’ award with metal cash. It’s a nice idea to honor your members this way.

Sonnenalp had the idea for the hummingbird and sent us a sketch and photo that we worked from. We love bring your creative genius to life! Then they had us create a perpetual shootout trophy with replica pistols.

Windsong Farm carefully and collectively came up with their Champion Paso Fino plaques designs. We worked with them to create a ‘just right’ award that they’re proud to give out. Their flight winner awards keep the rustic them but in a standard trophy style with a horseshoe.

Rock Barn‘s Member-Guest awards focused on their logo and club colors with a clean look. Sometimes just keep it simple and promote your brand. Your trophies don’t have to have a theme every time. Branding is important!

Champions Retreat chose to make their champion trophies’ focal point a tree that all their members will recognize as their ‘broccoli’ tree. This award is special to their club and no other club! Then they broke away from the crowd by doing a completely different design and color scheme for their flight winners. They used their state of Georgia’s silhouette and the star indicates where their club is; Evans, Georgia & proud!

Chambersburg CC chose to make their base the shape of Pennsylvania where their club is. Pennsylvania & proud! The color of the base matches the color of the trees’ trunks at their facility. We made their logo as a 2nd focal point on their award. The tree is 3 layers to give more dimension and not let it look ‘flat’.

Sunset CC did a few different awards for their Invitational with us, which is featured in the last blog. This bocce ball award was a last minute order. The bocce ball featured actually was replaced with a tournament bocce ball, but I didn’t get a photo of it before it shipped. Time was of the essence on this project.

That’s all for the ‘Promote your Tournament’ blog today! Thanks for all your support!

Getting all the details right..

June 2, 2017 by Joy Ball

We worked with Sunset Country Club for their event called The Invitational. They use their tournament logo on their mini-flags, tee markers and of course on their tee markers. This gave a ‘complete look’ to their event and added presentation value by miles.

Here’s a look at their mini-flags and tee markers. Extra nice markers are a great touch for your bigger tournaments versus using your every day ones.

For their awards, we did horse race and shootout awards.Their prize table is going to look really nice and will be something that players talk about!

All about the trophies

May 25, 2017 by Joy Ball

Hi everyone. We are in the thick of tournament season, and are living breathing trophies; really. We’re excited to show you what we’ve been up to thanks to the creative minds of our clients and designers.

Our welder created a 3D tree award based on photos our clients sent. Here’s what we did for Champions Run’s oak tree. We’ll have more trees to look at soon. We’re about to make one that’s modeled from the course’s tree that resembles broccoli.. We get all kinds of requests here at RHI..

For the ladies’ tournaments, Blue Jack chose a 3D flower award, and then we made the Gold Shoe award for a local organization.

Derby trophies are fun to make. Here’s Spurwing’s derby award. They chose a 4″ steel base that our welders created ‘tree bark’. Because it’s made from steel, there’s weight to it despite the ‘small’ size.. Then there’s a horseshoe on our ‘standard’ base made for a private tourney. Clean and simple.

We’ve worked with Pete Dye the last few year’s, and it’s been fun making 3D coal carts. They have a coal cart on their facility, which makes these trophies unique to their club. That’s what we encourage clients to do; showcase something that is unique to their club like a specific tree, or something that’s a landmark theme.

We made tomahawks for Wyoming Valley’s winners, shotguns for a charity event, and clubs/shot guns trophies for the Big Sky & Birdie event in Montana.

The Whipporwill trophies are a good example of how a color change can be all that’s needed to make a trophy fresh. They’ve done 2 shades of blue and then debuted with red steam shovels. Their event is called The Steamshovel Invitational.

For Red Rock CC, we used round trophies for their champions, and square awards for their flight winners. We layered their rock logo for a dimensional effect. Then we made a 3D lamp post, which is Carmel Country Club’s logo. Our designer first created this design at the 2016 PGA Show while they were talking to us.

Elmcrest CC is doing several events with us. These creative trophies came from sketches that they sent us, and then we made them 100% custom.

That’s all we have for trophies to share today. You’re welcome to browse our tournament supply section for more ideas. We update our galleries weekly.

Range Update Projects

May 3, 2017 by Joy Ball

Our first range update project to share is for Oak Hills Country Club, which is a private club in San Antonio, Texas. We used  brown powder coat to give a rustic, yet polished feel for their driving range. For their bag stands, we  added a cup holder and drilled holes for their alignment rods.

We made club cleaning stations and range trash buckets about the same size for a clean look.

Then there’s their putter stand to match.

Next project is for Rock Barn Country Club’s range. We wanted to share this project because of the ball crate that we made for them with the movable door. This box holds about 300 balls, and has open handles for easy transporting.

On their bag stands, we used smooth square tubing instead of twisted and then sprayed a textured powder coat in hunter green. It also has a low-profile cup holder. This style has the option of a towel hook, too.

We used the icon logo for the rest of their range, so to switch it up, we used their course name on their dividers, but kept the coloring consistent.

Stayed tuned for more featured projects, and other product blog posts!

Driving Range Update Ideas & More

April 3, 2017 by Joy Ball

Hi. Today let’s look at a couple of projects that we’ve been working with.

First, is the Mountaintop Lake & Golf Club PROJECT. We worked closely with the head pro there on every detail of the new product line up. Let’s start with the custom amenity carts that Fox designed with us.

This is the cart that together we designed for his North End, which is the self-service side. We wanted to keep everything covered in case of rain. There’s the insulated cooler, and then the large storage area in the bottom. Because of the shape of the build, we added pneumatic wheels to the end.

On their South End, we designed an amenity cart that was larger. Rain was still a concern, so we build 2 removable lid sections, as well as a bracket on the side so that they could attach an umbrella on if they wanted to. There’s an insulated cooler on this one too.

For their bag stands, we made the kickplate bag stand for their self-service end, and something completely different for their full-service side. The full service stand holds clubs at an angle.

Also, on the driving range, we made ball corrals with weld bumps to keep the balls from being stuck in the corners.

For signage, we made a driving range sign in a style that we call the ‘range tree.’

Here’s the other signs that we made for Mountaintop:

Mountaintop wanted to keep with the same color theme on their tee markers. We made 2 styles, and direction tee markers.

The 2nd course that we’re showing off today is the Part 2 Project for Green Brook Country Club in New Jersey.

First, we made their insulated coolers. They chose a 2-toned gray powder coat that has 2 shades of gray.

We’ve made driving range clock signs for them before, but they wanted another style with a movable x base. for their driving range.

Usually, we stick with 1 color scheme, but their course has 2 different club color schemes. This is the club cleaning station that we made. We still kept the logo consistent like on everything else that we’ve made for them.

Here’s their starter’s tray. We designed it specifically to fit their scorecards. We make starter boxes with lids and without in different styles and layouts.

You can’t see it in this photo, but there’s stakes welded behind the circle plate so that the sign can be inserted into the ground. It’s a low key directional sign.

We also made trash can enclosures. The top portion is removable so that staff can lift it and take out the trash. There’s handles on the sides of the shell to make it easy to move.

Lastly, this style of podium is our slanted top style. I really like this one because it as top storage (top in hinged) and back storage with shelves.  You can choose casters as an add-on.

We’ll be sharing more projects soon! If you have photos of your RHI products, you’re welcome to email it to your RHI sales team. We love seeing the accessories at the facilities.

Trophies & More

March 3, 2017 by Joy Ball

We’re getting a lot of calls about trophies lately, and we’re gearing up for a great 2017 trophy season. If you want some inspiration, here’s what we’ve been up to lately on the award side of things.

The Masters awards in the shape of your state have been getting quite a few requests. Our welder might not be a fan of it, but the uniquely shaped awards are really cool.

Squire Creek CC did that Par 3 award (above) and (below) the flower trophy, as well as the scary skull/crossbones. Here’s an easy example of how we can make each of your awards look different from each other if you’d like. That way each tournament has their own unique identity/brand. Or we can keep it consistent. Whatever you prefer.

Next is the cannon awards for Gaillardia. We really like these and they work great for matchplay trophies.

Here’s another state themed trophy but in a different style. Reynolds Lake Oconee asked us to make these a 2nd year in a row.

Here’s what the Florida State Golf Association had us do for their shootout events. Their logo looks really nice, but we can also make a skeet there in case its a skeet shooting event.

2nd roadrunner themed award for La Quinta CC. To mix things up for this event, we changed the shape of the base from rectangle to a ‘freehand’ shape. We got a little artistic here.

Have you been searching for a bear trophy? Here’s a flight winner award that’s bear themed for Toscana CC.

Here’s the Hole In One Plaque that we made for Twin Orchards.

Besides trophies, we’ve been busy with tee markers lately. Here’s a look at what some other courses are up to.

For Signs we have the Pace of Play Check Sign for Stone Canyon, & the PGA West ‘NO CARTS’ sign.

That’s all for today’s blog. Thanks, and have a great weekend!

Driving Range Setups

February 15, 2017 by Joy Ball

Today’s blog is a look at the driving range. We get questions about how metal will look against wood sometimes. Here’s an example of what it could look like if you already have wooden products, but want to introduce a more durable material that  needs a lot less maintenance…

An extra thought is that if you find that you’re not in love with the wooden applecrates; we have a solution. The ball crates that we make are easier to get balls out and are easier to use as well as maintain. Here’s a couple examples:

While we’re on the subject of ball boxes, we also make half-barrel ball baskets like on this example.

You can lay the baskets on their sides or have them upright. Here’s a look at a couple of driving range setups:

First, is Verde River’s range. They lay their baskets on their sides. The bottom of the baskets have ‘feet’, which make it easy to keep on their sides.

Players can scoop out balls with their club by tilting the basket towards them at Big Canoe. The baskets are tilted easily with one’s foot.

Thanks for reading today’s blog on the driving range!
