Moving away from the apple crates..

November 15, 2017 by Joy Ball

We’ve noticed the fad of the apple crates, but when we use them, we just got frustrated with the balls getting stuck in the crate.. And then we just dumped the balls out onto the grass and then went to hitting balls. This made the crew get to thinking,, there has to be a ball box that balls easily come out without getting stuck, right? What use is a box that balls get stuck in?

So we went to designing and came up with different baskets and boxes. Here’s my personal favorite, the half barrel ball basket. You can position it on its side for a casual look with balls overflowing the side like Verde River Golf & Social Club did, or keep it upright. When its upright, the player tips the basket towards them and scoops the balls out with his/her club and then let’s go letting the basket go back into position. These are priced usually between $160 to $175 depending on the final design & quantity. You’ll love these!!!

We also make the smooth version of this basket. Above is the barrel look, but with Troon North we went with a more modern look.

Another alternative to the applecrate is the ball boxes that we build that have a movable door. This ball crate has the option of a slanted ramp in the bottom or corner ‘bumps’ that prevent the balls from getting stuck..

We also make the ball corral since some clients rather have an open door…

And you could always go against the grain and come up with something completely custom with us like Aldarra did last summer with their silo ball dispensers… Let your creative flag fly!!

Amenities on-hand

October 23, 2017 by Joy Ball

We’ve made a few amenity cart/boxes that were extra special that we want to share with you on today’s blog.

First up is Pine Canyon’s amenity carts. Amenity carts are  are a perfect way to keep refreshments, towels, scorecards, tees, etc. at hand on the 1st Tee. We made a lot of these, but each one is a little bit different (it’s the nature of a custom shop). Pine Canyon asked for a small counter that they could display their ice tea and water pitchers. It also has a sun roof and insulated 50 qt cooler. Notice that the wheel are hand carved. In t his case we left the wheels ‘bare’, but some of our clients like a medium to dark stain to them.

We did a first-time build for The Stone Canyon Club that shipped last week. It’s a combination of an amenity box that has a stand with shelves. The shelves are designed to hold divot bottles. The twisted metal gives it a decorative look.

Another amenity solution was what Blue Jack National asked us to design/build. We recently saw this photo and had to share.

All of these units could potentially hold towels, but here’s what we did for Mountain Brook and Winter Haven with towels in mind.

Winter Haven GC had us to a combo unit with their driving range sign to keep their range clean and clutter free looking (beautiful course).

Full Customization -> Bag Stands

October 3, 2017 by Joy Ball

What do your players need on-hand while on the range? We began a decade ago with a basic no-tray bag stand, and then it evolved. Our clients (you) have developed our stands into a unit that meets the players’ changing needs. If you browse our website, you’ll see that a lot of the trays are a little bit different. Some have 2 cup holders, others have 1 cup holder and 1 spot for a range finer, or holes for alignment rods, etc. It’s limitless, really. Just let us know what works for your players and we’ll create a custom-made bag stand.

Last week we worked with Rolling Hills CC in Hills Estates, California.  Their super sent us their range finder so that we could custom fit it in their stands during production. We designed the stand so that the range finder could be attached to it, which avoids the issue of any ‘walking away’..

Here’s the custom tray that we built awhile back for The Madison Club (Discovery course). They had us drill holes for alignment rods behind the compartment for it, while The Cliffs had us create a box solely for their range finder. Everyone is so different, which makes life interesting here at RHI.

Ending question: What kind of tray works best for your range?

Tournament Tee Markers & More!

July 28, 2017 by Joy Ball

This week was the week of tee markers and trophies..

First off are the 5 sets of tee markers that we made for The Meadows at Mystic Lake.

We also made tournament markers for an event held at the Lake Forest CC. Their event had a tournament logo and a sponsor logo. We thought about making a double sided tee marker, but after thinking about it, we all decided to do 18 with one logo and 18 of the other logo for a sleeker presentation.

Then we made A-frame tee markers for the Remission Foundation event. This is particularly a great style if you need to stack and store them (perfect for event markers).

We’ve made trophies for Eagle Bend for years, but this year they wanted to add-on tournament tee markers to ramp up the presentation.

For awards we made juniper tree trophies for Pronghorn, mammoths for Snowmass and cowboys for The Club at Olde Hawthorne. You can tell that we make a wide variety of awards.. Each one is designed for our particular client to fit what works for them best.

We also make perpetual boards, here’s one we shipped for Toscana.

On the range accessory front, let’s start with signs:

Then there’s insulated coolers like the ones that we did for Sonoma.

Also for water solutions, we built a metal version of a teak beverage station.

Last to share today is the custom bench that we made for Pronghorn.

Consistent Presentation is Key

July 13, 2017 by Joy Ball

When you really see the difference in presentation is when you’re accessories are consistent in colors, style and logos.

Here’s a look at how Trinity Forest is giving their customers the best possible presentation.

This week we made a range box that stemmed from a design we created 3 years ago that was modeled off a treasure chest design (see below). The head pro at TF, took that design as inspiration for his one-of-a-kind amenity box. He added a divot bottle rack so that the space was utilized fully.

We added pneumatic hinges on after I took this photo.

We also shipped their scorecard box this week.

Below are a couple other orders that we’ve made for them in the past year or so. Notice how everything just fits together in appearance.

Driving Range Targets

July 13, 2017 by Joy Ball

Hi, everyone. We’ve been branching out with the driving range targets that we make by most recently creating animal cutout targets. These targets are about 5′ to 6′ feet tall depending on the chosen animal.

The wine barrel targets are also a fun target to hit. They made a loud noise (ball hitting steel) that makes heads turn without being obnoxious.  Here’s the ones that we made in the last few days:

Then there’s always a 20′ bulls-eye to aim at…

We had started making ball pyramid trays, but started getting more creative with barrel ball buckets and baskets. Here’s the bucket that we made for Talking Rock.

We love when we get commissioned to make something outside the norm, and that’s what happened with Aldarra. They asked us to make ball ‘buckets’ in the shape of their signature silo. These will hold 300 or so balls and will be something special and unique that’s at only their range.

Or if you want to go traditional, we make custom ball pyramid trays that hold 140 balls.

For Range Layout Signs, we made in-ground signs for Crane Creek, and a hanging sign for Thousand Oaks.

For Thousand Oaks, we also made mini-flags and shipped those last week in time for their men’s event.

That’s all for today! Thanks.

Driving Range Update Ideas & More

April 3, 2017 by Joy Ball

Hi. Today let’s look at a couple of projects that we’ve been working with.

First, is the Mountaintop Lake & Golf Club PROJECT. We worked closely with the head pro there on every detail of the new product line up. Let’s start with the custom amenity carts that Fox designed with us.

This is the cart that together we designed for his North End, which is the self-service side. We wanted to keep everything covered in case of rain. There’s the insulated cooler, and then the large storage area in the bottom. Because of the shape of the build, we added pneumatic wheels to the end.

On their South End, we designed an amenity cart that was larger. Rain was still a concern, so we build 2 removable lid sections, as well as a bracket on the side so that they could attach an umbrella on if they wanted to. There’s an insulated cooler on this one too.

For their bag stands, we made the kickplate bag stand for their self-service end, and something completely different for their full-service side. The full service stand holds clubs at an angle.

Also, on the driving range, we made ball corrals with weld bumps to keep the balls from being stuck in the corners.

For signage, we made a driving range sign in a style that we call the ‘range tree.’

Here’s the other signs that we made for Mountaintop:

Mountaintop wanted to keep with the same color theme on their tee markers. We made 2 styles, and direction tee markers.

The 2nd course that we’re showing off today is the Part 2 Project for Green Brook Country Club in New Jersey.

First, we made their insulated coolers. They chose a 2-toned gray powder coat that has 2 shades of gray.

We’ve made driving range clock signs for them before, but they wanted another style with a movable x base. for their driving range.

Usually, we stick with 1 color scheme, but their course has 2 different club color schemes. This is the club cleaning station that we made. We still kept the logo consistent like on everything else that we’ve made for them.

Here’s their starter’s tray. We designed it specifically to fit their scorecards. We make starter boxes with lids and without in different styles and layouts.

You can’t see it in this photo, but there’s stakes welded behind the circle plate so that the sign can be inserted into the ground. It’s a low key directional sign.

We also made trash can enclosures. The top portion is removable so that staff can lift it and take out the trash. There’s handles on the sides of the shell to make it easy to move.

Lastly, this style of podium is our slanted top style. I really like this one because it as top storage (top in hinged) and back storage with shelves.  You can choose casters as an add-on.

We’ll be sharing more projects soon! If you have photos of your RHI products, you’re welcome to email it to your RHI sales team. We love seeing the accessories at the facilities.
