Behind the Scenes: Ball Bowls

October 28, 2019 by Joy Ball

Our shop manager, will was fabricating a mini fire pit when inspiration struck last week! Instead of using it for its original purpose, he brought it into the shop and suggested that these would be a great ball container option. I got really excited when I saw it because it’s unique and doesn’t hold an obnoxious about of balls. These hold 100 to 115 balls, which is more than the 45 balls that the leather bags hold at Reid’s (ceo of rhi) home course. Because really, how many balls will your member hit at one time??

I also like this design because you can tilt on it’s side or have it upright, just like the half barrel ball baskets that we make. These do have a logo option on them, but they look great without a logo. You can get away with not having a logo especially if you have rhi bag stands and dividers with your logo on them.

Here’s the bowls with the balls that I temporarily borrowed from Reid’s office..

We also make the traditional pyramids and then half barrel ball basket & buckets.

How to get the best experience from your club washers..

July 23, 2019 by Joy Ball

How to get the best experience from your club washers..

The club washers that we make at RHI Golf hold a 5-gallon water bucket and have a removable grate that lets water drain. On the left and right side of the unit there are arms that can hold a towel and you can attach a handheld scrub brush to it. The club washers look the nicest on the market (several steps up from the mean green machine at Par Aide..) and are about half the price (seriously) of Prestwick’s plastic trim club washers..

Instead of having built in brushes that are hard to clean, we decided to go old school and design a golf club cleaning station where members would use a handheld scrubber because:

  • The member can gently clean their clubs and are less likely to get scratches during the cleaning process than with a bucket that has built in brushes.
  • It’s the cleanest experience. Built-in brushes aren’t the easiest to keep clean and dirt gets all up in it. How clean can you expect your clubs to get with grimy brushes??
  • Handheld scrubbers are inexpensive and easy to replace. You can order new scrubber and get them in 2 days with Amazon Prime’s free shipping for example (wham, bam, done!)

Also, we make trash can enclosures for the driving range that look great next to the club washers..

Suncadia Project

May 17, 2019 by Joy Ball

It was great working with Suncadia on their driving range accessory project this season! Our shipping crew was shipping lightening fast and I didn’t get a chance to take photos of all of their products. So it was great when the Suncadia team sent a few.

Here’s the few that I took at RHI Golf HQs. Their logo pops so nicely against the brown semi-texture powder coat. Then again I am partial to yellow..

Bag Stands -Behind the Scenes Blog

January 25, 2019 by Joy Ball

Opening Day is coming up quick, so this is a great time to get your next driving range improvement project on the books! Call us at 208.635.5203 ext. 102

Today’s blog is going to focus on bag stands. We have about 5 styles that are usually requested, but every once in a while we’ll have a customer who wants something completely out of the box (we love that). We re-did the driving range accessories for The Clubs at Cordillera Ranch in Boerne, Texas. The star of the show on this project are the cowboy bag stands. Notice all of the details in the hat and the spurs. This stand is designed to hold a few clubs and not a full bag (that’s what they’re used for most of the time anyway).

This blog is labeled ‘bag stands’, but we have to show you some of the other range accessories that Cordillera Ranch did that ties in this ‘ranch/western’ theme together. Consistency on the range is key..

The 1/2 barrel ball baskets that we make look like whisky barrels and fit about 200 balls (2 sizes available). The dividers that we made were of high-quality and thick rope with horseshoes on either end, which fits great for this course’s theme. Then there’s the club cleaning station and driving range A-frame clock. All of their products were powder coated  a semi-texture brown for durability and to give a rustic look.

Another Texas client, Westwood Golf Club had us customize the ‘upright square bar bag stand’ that we make. The cup holder fits their club’s cups perfectly. This stand gives a nice clean look to their range. Simplistic is perfect sometimes, don’t you think?

Desert Mountain Club is one of our many Scottsdale, Arizona clients. They chose an ‘upright twisted bag stand‘. In this style we use 1″ twisted metal bar for a beautiful look. There’s 2 holes for alignment rods on the half-circle portion and a cup holder behind the logo. We also used a brown semi-texture non this.

For PGA WEST Private Clubhouse & Golf Courses in La Quinta, California we did the ‘upright square bar bag stand‘. This is one of our clients who likes to use Dark Bronze as their powder coat. It has a slight shimmer to it if you look really close in person. Most of the time it looks dark brown if your eye balls aren’t directly glued to it, though.

We re-did the range for Whirlwind Golf Club. We’ve made their wine barrel range targets a few years ago which was a great start, but this time we were asked to make their bag stands, ball baskets, club cleaning stations, clocks, signs & trash can enclosures. Here’s a peak at their ‘A-frame square bar bag stand’. They have a beautiful oven basket logo, but they decided on their stands to keep it simple with just their name. Here’s a photo on our office lawn and then on their range.

Re-imagine Your Driving Range BLOG POST

November 1, 2018 by Joy Ball

Love the wood paneled look, but hate the upkeep? That’s why we started our ‘metal teak line’.

What’s unique about the Rams Hill Golf Club (in Borrego Springs, California0 project is the teak paneled look that we’ve done on most of their products. It gives a ‘wood-look’, but without the commitment of sealing and staining.. We used a beautiful powder coat called Copper Vein..

Next is the Twin Dolphins project. They’re a new high-end course in Mexico that’s opening. We made their driving range accessories and tee markers. We designed a new bag stand that we’ll show off here in the next few weeks. Notice on their products how all logos and numerals are either flush mounted or inset, which creates a beautiful look.

TEE MARKER BLOG: Invest in greatness!

July 20, 2018 by Joy Ball

When investing in tee markers, it’s important to look at durability and if there’s any maintenance involved. We design your tee markers to last about 10 years depending on how they’re taken care of. The powder coating that we use on the metal makes the markers really protects them from getting scratched and holds up well in the sun.

Our big project this week was producing the double sided tee markers for Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas. The multi-layered design gives these markers dimension, but since we use aluminum, they’re fairly lightweight.

Next, are the in-ground yardage markers that we made for TPC Colorado.

We built directional signage for TPC Colorado, too. Their wildlife sign and stop signs turned out nice!

Also, this week we made bag stands for Silo Ridge, Keystone Ranch and Bel Aire Country Club.

The other driving range accessories that went out this week are range dividers for The Country Club of the North, and then divot mix boxes for Hayden Country Club. Hayden CC is the home course of RHI Golf’s CEO, Reid Hatley.

Summer is always filled with trophies. Here’s what the rhi crew has created this week. You can tell that our clients are diverse in what they want to give out as prizes.

Thanks for reading our blog. We hope you gained inspiration from it for your next project!

Blog: Driving Range Carts

July 5, 2018 by Joy Ball

Amenity Carts by the RHI Golf crew

The amenity carts that we build custom are amazing. Sure, you can get amenity carts other places, but the ones that we make will last the longest and are the highest-quality.

We use hand-carved wooden wheels that we also hand-stain for a really nice look. Sometimes clients choose a roof while others opt out. 99% of the time we’re asked to include a 50 qt insulated cooler. There’s several layouts to choose from for the dividers to fit the amenities that you need on-hand. Here’s a look at the carts that we’ve made recently.

This River Club  wanted to store amenities in an enclosed space. Because of the weather over there,  this was an important design feature.

The same client then wanted a cooler only on wagon wheels. I absolutely love this portable cooler design. It’s a unique way to display and move around your cooler.

The other part of today’s blog, is the paneled round trash & recycling enclosures that we’re launching. We’re tired of seeing the green plastic ones out there on courses, and have something that’s much higher quality and at low-pricing. You can pick any powder coat on our color chart as well (there’s dozens to choose from).
