Getting Ready for Spring with Driving Range Supplies

January 4, 2018 by Joy Ball

We won’t be at the 2018 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando this month, but we’d love to set up a time to talk over the phone about your next project!

Contact us at 208.635.5203 Ext 102 or info@rhigolf.com

Here at RHI Headquarters it may be snowing outside and freezing, but we’re in-gear for Spring Opening Day. Our clients are ordering early, and we’re getting their custom projects out the door! We’re going to give you the ‘rundown’ today on what we’ve been building lately so that you can get inspiration and then get started with us on the design/order process.

Talking Rock put in an order for the barrel ball buckets. These hold about 150 balls and give their driving range a unique presentation that traditional ball pyramids just don’t give..

The Country Club at Winter Haven was our ‘guinea pig’ with our new ball tray design. Yesterday, I received at email from our contact there, and Josh said that they really like these trays. As a custom shop, we make things for the ‘first time’ weekly. It keeps things creative and interesting.

Another custom project that we were asked to do was for San Jose CC. We built a custom sand & seed table with sections for amenities like tees, divot repair tools, ball marks, etc. Then we did a divot mix box for Pine Canyon CC.

We shipped out mini-flags for Teton Springs yesterday, and then some for Vasari last week.

Now for Golf Course Signage,  Mirabel had us make new pool signs for them. They turned out nice in my humble opinion..

Here’s the driving range clock sign that we did for Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, and the parking log sign that we did for Troon Country Club (show without the post).

Here’s the trash enclosure, yardage sign and driving range ALL IN ONE COMBO that Fiddler’s Elbow had us custom design for them. This was produced from a sketch that they emailed us..

We’re starting on the Roaring Forks Club driving range project, but here’s a sneak peak at one of their products; club cleaners. They are using a textured hammer color called ‘Bronze Hammer’. It’s a new powder coat that we’ve been using for a couple of clubs, and it looks really nice..

Even though it’s January NOW IS THE TIME to start putting in your trophy orders if you can for Spring and Summer. It’s good having your trophies early because 1) less stress 2) trophies can create a buzz if you share a photo of it to your members and/or have the champion awards in the golf shop for display.. Here’s a look at the trophies that we made for The Crosby Club, Southern Dunes and a Hole-in-One award.

More tournament supplies that came out this past week were the proximity markers for Annandale Club + starter boxes & trays for Capital City.

Thanks for reading our blog. The SPRING SEASON IS COMING, so there will be much more to post very soon!!

HOUSTON PROJECTS!!!

December 15, 2017 by Joy Ball

What’s new:

We just shipped a divot bottle table for Golf Club of Houston. We started this style about 4 years ago, which gives a clean look and is simple to use. Sometimes simple is best, right?

Since we look at the ‘whole picture’ and not just one product’s presentation, we also built their insulated cooler. Just ‘food for thought’, we also make a sand box that looks just like this, but of course isn’t insulated.

For their tournaments, we made a custom starters box and proximity markers.

Our shipping department was too fast, and I didn’t get a chance to snap a photo, so here’s the rendering that looks just like the finished product. The RHI Shipping Crew has fast bubble wrapping skills..

Another client of ours who we built for this month was the Country Club of Houston. We’re very excited to unveil the finalized tee markers soon (stay tuned) that we’re in production on right now on. Here’s the demos that we worked on before fine-tuning the details. As all of you know, it’s all about the details. The details is what makes your presentation stand out from the competition.

And then of course, we made Houston National’s Steel Trap Awards, and Blue Jack National’s Hurricane Harvey + AVM tournament trophies.

Northwood Club Project

December 1, 2017 by Joy Ball

We recently built the driving accessories for Northwood Club in Dallas, Texas. We worked closely with their team to design custom made driving range accessories. Every detail was carefully thought out to give the best presentation possible. Notice how each product has a beautiful copper vein powder coat and symbols from their logo.

Here’s what their driving range looks like this month with their new rhi setup.

We designed the bagstands so that the could use the trays for a bottle of water, alignment rods, tees and either a towel or a range finder.

This driving range sign has removable flags on it in case there’s any changes down the road.

Here’s an up-close photo of their range dividers. Because there’s a small space on the dividers, the course name often works better than the icon logo.

Because of how much activity is on their driving range, we built their ball staging baskets larger than we do on average. We’re custom, so we’re happy to work with the dimensions that you think would work best at your particular facility.

Broken tee boxes continue with the presentation, so we kept a high-level of detail on these for Northwood Club.

Below is the customer designed scorecard box/amenity box. It’s 100% custom, and perfect for their needs.

Then there’s the beverage caddie. In this case, we all felt that a ball cap looked better than adding a logo. Sometimes simple is best. It continues the presentation with the same coloring as the other products.

Here’s a couple of photos of their driving range box that we took at our shop. Half of its designed for towels, while the other half has custom dividers for amenities that they need on hand like bug spray, sun screen, athletic tape, aspirin, etc.

This Amenity Table actually comes from our driving range cart designs, but our customer didn’t need the wheels or cooler so we designed their product with just the ‘bed’ portion.

Lastly, is their bag drops, which they call their ‘Sunday Bag Rack’.

We’re excited to be in the works of another custom build for them. They have a beautiful course, and we’re happy to have had the opportunity to build their range accessories and signs.

Moving away from the apple crates..

November 15, 2017 by Joy Ball

We’ve noticed the fad of the apple crates, but when we use them, we just got frustrated with the balls getting stuck in the crate.. And then we just dumped the balls out onto the grass and then went to hitting balls. This made the crew get to thinking,, there has to be a ball box that balls easily come out without getting stuck, right? What use is a box that balls get stuck in?

So we went to designing and came up with different baskets and boxes. Here’s my personal favorite, the half barrel ball basket. You can position it on its side for a casual look with balls overflowing the side like Verde River Golf & Social Club did, or keep it upright. When its upright, the player tips the basket towards them and scoops the balls out with his/her club and then let’s go letting the basket go back into position. These are priced usually between $160 to $175 depending on the final design & quantity. You’ll love these!!!

We also make the smooth version of this basket. Above is the barrel look, but with Troon North we went with a more modern look.

Another alternative to the applecrate is the ball boxes that we build that have a movable door. This ball crate has the option of a slanted ramp in the bottom or corner ‘bumps’ that prevent the balls from getting stuck..

We also make the ball corral since some clients rather have an open door…

And you could always go against the grain and come up with something completely custom with us like Aldarra did last summer with their silo ball dispensers… Let your creative flag fly!!

Amp up your presentation with Tournament Supplies

August 31, 2017 by Joy Ball

Tournament Cases and Starter Trays add presentation value to your event as well as keep need-to-have items readily available.

Here’s the starter trays that we shipped out lately: 1) Large tray for The Los Angeles Country Club. 2) Ak’chin Southern Dunes -Troon facility 3) Winged Foot 4) The Clubs at St. James

Next is the tournament case with clasps that we made for the USGA to take to The Walker Cup. You can’t get classier than this..

Painted driftwood or branches might be your thing, but come tournaments it’s time to amp up your presentation value with custom tee markers..

If you’re tired of painting wooden blocks or branches (isn’t everyone except the committee?), then we can design/build low-maintenance and beautiful custom tee markers for your course.

Last, but not least, is tournament prizes (of course). Anyone can give out generic crystal, but a custom trophy can be one of the best marketing pieces for your tournament that creates such a buzz and becomes part of your tournament and club’s identity. Really.

Here’s what’s come out our doors this past week for trophies. You’ll see the variety in our designs, and that we design specifically for our clients who are as different from each other as can be.

Clear Creek Tahoe wanted trophies for their The Rivalry tournament to look like an old saw. After months of developing the design, we got it!

Here’s the rest that came out our doors (:

Consistent Presentation is Key

July 13, 2017 by Joy Ball

When you really see the difference in presentation is when you’re accessories are consistent in colors, style and logos.

Here’s a look at how Trinity Forest is giving their customers the best possible presentation.

This week we made a range box that stemmed from a design we created 3 years ago that was modeled off a treasure chest design (see below). The head pro at TF, took that design as inspiration for his one-of-a-kind amenity box. He added a divot bottle rack so that the space was utilized fully.

We added pneumatic hinges on after I took this photo.

We also shipped their scorecard box this week.

Below are a couple other orders that we’ve made for them in the past year or so. Notice how everything just fits together in appearance.

Driving Range Targets

July 13, 2017 by Joy Ball

Hi, everyone. We’ve been branching out with the driving range targets that we make by most recently creating animal cutout targets. These targets are about 5′ to 6′ feet tall depending on the chosen animal.

The wine barrel targets are also a fun target to hit. They made a loud noise (ball hitting steel) that makes heads turn without being obnoxious.  Here’s the ones that we made in the last few days:

Then there’s always a 20′ bulls-eye to aim at…

We had started making ball pyramid trays, but started getting more creative with barrel ball buckets and baskets. Here’s the bucket that we made for Talking Rock.

We love when we get commissioned to make something outside the norm, and that’s what happened with Aldarra. They asked us to make ball ‘buckets’ in the shape of their signature silo. These will hold 300 or so balls and will be something special and unique that’s at only their range.

Or if you want to go traditional, we make custom ball pyramid trays that hold 140 balls.

For Range Layout Signs, we made in-ground signs for Crane Creek, and a hanging sign for Thousand Oaks.

For Thousand Oaks, we also made mini-flags and shipped those last week in time for their men’s event.

That’s all for today! Thanks.
