Tee Markers, Member-Guest Awards & Gifts, and Trump National!

February 21, 2012 by Joy Ball

New tee markers that were just sent to Arrowhead.

What’s in the shop this week? Well, other than some more lousy snow outside – here’s some of the things we’ve been working on lately.

First up are a set of tee markers for Arrowhead Golf Club out of Colorado. These are cut out of 3/16″ thick steel. They had us do them in 4 custom colors, here are a couple of them that I managed to grab a picture of before they were all boxed up.

Next, we’ve had several requests for tournament awards and trophies that “are something we’ve never seen before”.  We’ve been experimenting with some new techniques and have paired up with a talented local artist to produce some awards and trophies that are truly unique.  These are just samples at this point, but they turned out beautifully – and at a great price point for something of this quality!

This course asked us to come up with both a gift that each participant in their Member-Guest could recieve and a trophy for the event winners.  They wanted something with a “Native American Hatchet”.  Each piece is cut out of steel and hand painted.

A great new idea for member guest gifts.

The trophy is based on a piece of 8″ pipe, and probably weights 15-20lbs.  It’s also hand crafted and painted.  His incredible painting gives it a 3D look that is stunning.

The River Club asked us to create something unique for their member guest trophies. More trophy details.

Some of Jason's amazing detail work. A close-up of the detail work on this member guest trophy.

Here’s another sample for a desert course.  This simple cactus will make an amazing centerpiece for a trophy.  All of the texture is done with just weld splatter and then hand painted.

Let us know if we can start working on something original and unique for your 2012 Member-Guest!

Finally here are a pair of boxes that were purchased by the guys at Trump National.  The two boxes serve two different functions.  First is what we call at ‘scorecard box’.  This gets mounted on a pole (included) and is usually stationed near the first tee.  It contains scorecards, pencils, tees, divot repair tools, etc.  The second box is what we call a ‘tournament box’.  This one is usually used by tournament organizers to carry the things they need from event to event and helps keep everything they need in one handy location.  The tournament box is made of 1/8″ aluminum and is a great looking box that is more durable than anything else on the market.  Both boxes can be completely customized to your individual needs and requirements.

And the tournament box – it latches securely, has a sturdy handle, and a foam-lined bottom.

Tournament boxes are great for keeping everything you need to run your event organized. Here's the finished Tournament Operations Box for Trump National.

New “Casino” Course designs…

January 18, 2012 by Joy Ball

We do 'fishscaled' aluminum all the time, but this fishscaled steel turned out great.

We’ve had a few requests from facilities that operate both a casino and a golf course for some tee marker concepts that incorporate a casino feel.  Here are a couple design ideas, a large dice and a playing card.  The large dice could have a course’s logo incorporated into one face of the die, and the playing card shown here has Circling Raven’s (a great local course and casino) logo.

An example of a 'Casino' course tee marker. Another casino course tee sign with the Circling Raven logo.

Here’s a new bag stand design that uses some twisted steel.  The twisted steel is very heavy and durable and is a great look for reasonably priced range accessories.

A new driving range bag stand design. Reasonably priced and very sturdy.

We use what we call “fishscale” (a process of grinding and polishing) on aluminum all the time.  For this Barrington leather point of sale display we tried fishscaling some steel.  It’s a more subtle look than on the aluminum, but I really like it.

We do 'fishscaled' aluminum all the time, but this fishscaled steel turned out great.

Lastly, here’s a couple recent signs we’ve finished up for Malibu.  The colored arrows against the natural rust looks pretty cool.

Another directional sign for Malibu Country Club. The natural rust is great! Another Malibu sign.

Tee Markers, Point of Sale Displays and Trophies…

Sterling Tee Markers for the PGA

Here is a set of tournament tee markers that we are building for Sterling Bank.  They are the corporate sponser for the Pacific Northwest section of the PGA, so these will get used at all of the section events this summer.  They are what we call a ‘fish-scaled” aluminum which means the guys take a grinder and custom grind/polish each one.  It’s a unique look that turns out great!

In our first year we did a bunch of Point-of-Sale Displays for the guys at Travis Mathew clothing.  Then last year we did a different design.  This year we are currently finalizing the design on some shoe shelf displays.  Anyway, they said that they needed a few extra of the first design, so we knocked those out this week.  Hopefully we’ll have some of the shoe displays to show soon, too.

I was going through the camera and found this picture.  It was a tournament perpetual trophy that we built for the Interclub Championship for the guys at Troon Golf.  It turned out pretty amazing, and the real reason I wanted to post a picture was to just show a comparison between the original rendering, and the final project (sorry, the pic’s a little blurry).  Just another example that when you order from RHI, you will always have free renderings showing exactly how your custom design will look before anything gets made.

Tee markers donated for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America

Here’s a picture sent to us from Selby at Bighorn.  She was helping organize their annual fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness and asked our Palm Springs rep, Kelly Burlile, if we could donate a sign.  It was a fun one, we don’t get to use pink very often around here!

We also donated some event tee markers for the California chapter of the Golf Course Superintendants Association of America.  Their annual meeting was a great event, and our rep, John Vetter was able to have a good time and meet some great guys.

Kapalua Tee Markers are almost ready to ship!

November 17, 2011 by Joy Ball

Just finishing up the Kapalua Tee Markers which should be ready to go out this week. Wanted to show a picture of the rendering vs. the real markers.

The Renderings:

The Real Tee Markers:

Kapalua Tee Markers - Actual

Unfortunately, the lighting is better in the renderings :)

On the real tee marker, the copper color is awesome. It might be my new favorite color we’ve used on anything. If I had my way we’d use it for every product on every course… Don’t like copper? Call us when you do…  Just kidding.  But it is pretty.
